Travis Akins is our minister serving in various areas of leadership, planning and visioning for Heritage. He preaches, teaches and coordinates small groups. Previously, Travis was the Young Adults Minister for our planting church Memorial Road. He served there for 5 1/2 years before transitioning to Heritage in the Summer of 2018.

Before moving to Edmond, Travis served as the Preaching Minister at the North Main Church of Christ in Winters, Texas. His first ministry was as the Youth Minister for the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas. He received his BA in Youth and Family Ministry and his MA in Christian Ministry from Abilene Christian University.

Travis and Laura have three daughters, Reese, Lucy and Scout; and one son, Wiley. They have worked before with the Lilyfield Christian Adoption and Foster Care agency as foster parents for over ten years.

Our Elders

On Sunday, December 5, 2021 our first Heritage eldership was established. Elders are first and foremost shepherds over the Heritage Church of Christ. The primary responsibility of a shepherd is pastoral care and the spiritual concerns of the Heritage members. Elders are called to willingly and eagerly shepherd the flock of God (1 Peter 5:1–2, Hebrews 13:17).

Future Home

Our future home will be located at 4900 N. Broadway, just south of Sorghum Mill Rd. We own 9 1/2 acres next to the Twin Bridges neighborhood and next door to the Heritage Elementary School. On April 22, 2018, our planting church Memorial Road gave us the debt free deed to this land. We are blessed and excited from this tremendous blessing. Our prayer is that God will bless this area of North Edmond with a vibrant, faithful and loving community that continues a heritage of sharing God’s love.

We are united in our core beliefs and values, which identify who we are. We invite you to study and learn about God’s direction for our lives.

  • Jesus is the Son of God, our Lord and Messiah. Jesus Christ is the one and only sacrifice for our sins and he arose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; John 3:16).

  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God – a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 119:10).

  • Every person has worth as a creation of God, but all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Everyone, from every walk of life and corner of earth deserve to be loved, just as we love God (Matthew 22:37-39).

  • Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord

(John 3:16). Those willing to obey Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith and be baptized into him for forgiveness of sins (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38).

  • The church is the Body of Christ on earth, is empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to save the lost and edify the saved (Ephesians 4:1-16).

  • Jesus Christ will one day return to take God’s children to be with him forever (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

How do I become a follower of Christ?

Romans 3:23

You believe that everyone is guilty of sin, including you. You confess that Jesus Christ is God’s only son, that He paid the penalty for your sin by His perfect life and death on the cross, and that He made it possible for you to have new life through his resurrection.

Romans 10:9; Romans 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:17,20

You are ready to give your life to Jesus Christ by: accepting His free forgiveness, repenting of past and present wrongs, being baptized by immersion into Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins.

Acts 2:36-38;

Romans 6

You are ready to give your life to Jesus Christ by: accepting His free forgiveness, repenting of past and present wrongs, being baptized by immersion into Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins.
